2012 has seen me working on short stories for national and international competitions. Hopefully my work will be available for all to read soon enough.
I’ve also been writing ‘playlets’ for London based organisation Talon Arts. You can read these here.
. . . and here’s some music poetry . . .
THE CHURCH OF YEAH!
You’ve heard the sound of a swarm of bees,
Or a ten-tonne truck driven hard
Down the street,
Where greased cats lean,
And burn cigarettes for relief
Stubbed-out, with pointed shoes of leather,
Amidst disregarded headlines,
Declaring jailhouse breakouts,
But no real alley cat vernacular
Neon tubes read: “BAR OPEN”, then flicker,
Drained by thirsty guitars,
Their straps scraped across scapulae,
And blank T-shirt manifestos,
All life poised angular
And hundredweight beats rain down,
Cavalry horse, hooves drumming,
Or sleek gannet beaks
Piercing the surface of the sea
Life in the basement belies its appearance,
All ears tuned to the munificent radio,
“Rock and Roll”,
The immovable object,
Again the drone of Apoidea in abundance
The meat and the bone of human existence,
Hellfire, brimstone, and eyes daubed with Atropine,
There are bones in the walls
Yet the soul sits above,
An eagle perched on a rocky outcrop,
That opens its beak . . .
